Mission: In terms of applicable legislation, the STCAF has the mission of providing individual survival and rescue courses, in nuclear, radiological, biological or chemical (NRBC) environments, and also the recognition and deactivation of explosive devices.

 

Competences: the STCAF has to:

  • Develop and disclose techniques in survival areas; nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical defense (NRBCD); recognition and deactivation of explosive devices (RDED), conventional or improvised, biological, chemical and radiological explosive devices, and in other areas embodied in the protection force capacity;

  • Provide operational training in the survival areas, NRBC defense, RDED and in other areas embodied in the protection force capacity;

  • Provide and organize operational courses of Individual Common Core Skills (ICCS);

  • Organize, execute and control training programs, qualification and proficiency maintenance, for an increase of promptness, effectiveness and efficiency of human and material resources;

  • Provide technical training to the teachers involved in the courses and exercises fulfilled by the STCAF;

  • Plan, direct, control and execute the readiness, maintenance and performance of operational functions of survival, NRBC defense, RDED and in other areas embodied in the protection force capacity, superiorly determined;

  • Administer human and material resources of the Survival Training Center of the Air Force (STCAF);

  • Solicit and coordinate the necessary human and material resources to guarantee the accomplishment of STCAF’s mission;

  • Assure the promptness and operational capacity of the necessary systems and equipments to guarantee the accomplishment of STCAF’s mission;

  • Make studies and publications on techniques, systems and equipments in the area of survival, NRBQ defense, RIEE and in other areas embodied in the protection force capacity; 

  • Practice and test equipments in the area of survival, NRBQ defense, RIEE and in other areas embodied in the protection force capacity and emit its respective technical report;

  • Contribute to a definition of concepts of operation and usage in the areas of survival, NRBC defense, RDED and in other areas embodied in the protection force capacity;

  • Make necessary technical inspections in the area of survival, NRBQ defense, RDED and in other areas embodied in the protection force capacity;

  • Make necessary tactical evaluations on survival, NRBC defense, RDED and in other areas embodied in the protection force capacity; 

  • Coordinate and direct activity programs to attain specific goals determined by the Air Commander; 

  • Plan and solicit logistic and financial support for the mission of the STCAF;

  • Plan and propose the attendance of external courses for a better and more specific knowledge of the trainers;

  • Propose and make programs for qualification maintenance of the trainers and trainees of the STCAF.
